The twigs of the Daphniphyllum macropodum is thick and green, but the young twigs gives a reddish color and has no naps.
The tree belongs to a spurge family and subtropical evergreen broad-leaf tree. The height reaches up to 10m high.
The leaves are gathered living together at the tip of the branch, and have long leafstalk in red, rose-pink or green colors. The flower is monoecious in green color without calyx nor corolla in 2.5㎝ in the length as raceme. (An inflorescence having stalked flowers arranged singly along an elongated unbranched axis, and usually elongate cluster of flowers along the main stem in which the flowers at the base open first as in the Korean lespedeza, aconite, speedwell, Veronicastrum sibiricum, etc.)
The skin or bark of the leaves and tree are used as insecticide after boil.

Here and there in Mt. Naejang, this tree's community has made a habitation, grows up to 5m high and is used as a antinerualgics and is referred as a cure-all remedy in this area.
In the valley that is reaching from Mt. Naejang to the entrance of Seoninbong, the Daphniphyllum Macrophdum community has made a habitation, and between Seoninbong and the fountain, a community of a 20cm girth about 9m high trees, and even between Mt. Naejang and the Observatory 300m altitude from the mountain, Daphniphyllum Macropodum Trees and Acer Japonicum Community and Mongolian Oak and Japanese Oak Community is cohabiting together.
